General Surgery Residency? - surgery residency

I have to say some programs stay in general surgery, the last 5 years, others say 2 years ago, and some that combine the 2 years in one. What is the difference between the programs? And could a job as a Resident Surgeon General, received after 2 years or you have to make up 5 per year? Thank you for helping us
